ACORN PROJECT: community partners packed food bags for APSD students in need

A HUGE shoutout of appreciation for our friends at Patterson Federal Credit Union and Clark County Farm Bureau! Employees and board members packed 600 food bags for students in need in the Arkadelphia School District and delivered them as well! This was the first packing night for The Acorn Project and we couldn’t have found a better group to kick this off. Thank you!

Col. John Kaminar of the Arkansas Department of Education DESE presented banners to Goza Middle School Principal Tisha Hunter, Arkadelphia High School Principal Callie Hunley, APSD Military Education Coordinator Jeremy Bell, and Superintendent Nikki Thomas in recognition of our district's two Purple Star Schools. The banners will be displayed at each of the two schools. The schools received notice in March of the Purple Star School status.

AHS debuts Agriculture Education & FFA Program

Sammy Cox, the new Agricultural teacher and FFA advisor for AHS has spent his summer speaking to students, parents, and community members about the exciting new programs being offered at Arkadelphia. He hosted a casual cookout event to meet with families and share his excitement and vision for the program. We can't wait to see what is next for our students and this organization!

Freshman Orientation tames the first day jitters

.

Incoming freshman were welcomed Thursday before Open House with Freshman Orientation to get an introduction to Arkadelphia High School policies, procedures, culture, and to address concerns of students and families. This opportunity allowed freshman to walk the building during a calmer period of the day than Open House and learn their way around campus.
