Art students had the opportunity to enhance their skills during RTI by participating in an enrichment activity. Under the guidance of Art teacher, Candace Eriksson, they took their sketchbooks outside to practice drawing on location, immersing themselves in real-world inspiration.
AP Physics 1 students took on an exciting hands-on challenge to explore the relationship between launch angle, flight time, and range in projectile motion. Using their ingenuity and everyday materials like plastic spoons, duct tape, and popsicle sticks, students designed and built their own catapults. After testing their creations, they gathered data for analysis to deepen their understanding of the physics principles in action.
We love this student engagement!
During Arkansas Celebrate Freedom Week, Coach Chandler’s Civics classes studied the historical foundations of U.S. constitutional principles, focusing on key legal documents from Great Britain and France. After analyzing excerpts from the Magna Carta and other early texts, students participated in an interactive debate where each group was assigned a constitutional principle, such as separation of powers. As Coach Chandler read sections of the Magna Carta, students argued whether their principle originated from the excerpt, sparking dynamic discussions and thoughtful responses about the roots of U.S. Constitutional principles.
Congratulations to India Hale, Maddy Almand, Lizzy Morris, Brooklyn Brawley, and Ca’ron Horton for being nominated by their teachers for showing empathy to their classmates. From welcoming students into their group in Algebra to supporting a classmate during group work in World History to making students feel welcome at lunch, these students showed they know how to walk a mile in another person’s shoes!
Luis Castro, X'Zavion Williams, and Kelton Wilson were recognized at the September Arkadelphia School Board meeting with a Badger Pride Award. The students were nominated by AHS Teacher Caroline Reed who noticed their demonstration of the CKH character trait of empathy by walking a new student to class when he was having a difficult day. We are proud of the impact these students had on the life of a classmate.
The Arkadelphia High School AP Program is excited to announce an AP Incentive!
This incentive will be given to any student who scores a 3, 4, or 5 on any end-of-course Advanced Placement (College Board) Exam. The AP Incentive is meant to add quality to our existing AP program by encouraging student interest in taking AP classes and helping students see the importance of the AP Exam. We are also happy to announce that this incentive will apply to the Spring 2024 AP Exams. Any student who scores a 3, 4, or 5 on any 2024 AP Exam will be given this incentive.
The amount of the incentive will be determined by the number of 3-5 scores the student received on their exams.
