Intro to Agriculture

The agriculture education program continues to evolve; this year 8th grade students have been enrolled in the Intro to Agriculture class. This is the level 1 class also taught at the high school for 1st year members. These 8th grade students will be earning a high school credit by completing this course. This also opens up the availability for 8th graders to participate in Leadership Development Events this winter and Career Development Events this spring.

Reading for Education Fundraiser

Thank you to all the families who have already participated in our Reading for Education fundraiser! We are on our way to reaching our goal, but we need everyone's help to make sure our teachers get the essential tools they need to help our students succeed.

If your family has not participated, there's still time!

This safe and easy fundraiser is 100% online so there is no face-to-face selling, collecting money, or delivering products. Your child will receive a prize just for participating, and more prizes will be awarded when goals are reached.

Go to https://www.rfe.net/sid.t?0000374242 to show our valued teachers your support.

Counselor's Corner

Everyone seems to be settling into their new routines as they get back into school mode. One of the things that has changed in my schedule this year is that I get to pull students during their WIN (What I Need) time daily to work on Social/Emotional Learning skills. If you feel your student would benefit from small group counseling, I would love to hear from you. For example, I’m working with fifth graders this week on making good choices, and showing respect to peers even when they don’t agree with the other person.

We meet by grade level so fifth graders will only be with other fifth graders; sixth with other sixth graders; and the same for seventh and eighth graders.

As always, please encourage your children to unplug at night in order to get plenty of sleep. It is tough to go from having the relaxed schedules of summer where many of us (myself included) stayed up way too late, but now that we are back on a real schedule, we  need to turn off those phones and televisions in time to unwind our brains and fall asleep at a decent time. It’s also tough to make good choices where you are super sleepy from not getting enough rest overnight.  I try to let them know they need that rest because we love them, not because we are trying to punish them by taking away their electronics by 8 or 9 PM.

And here we are approaching September and our first school holiday: Labor Day! America’s unofficial end of summer, I hope you and your family enjoy a restful three-day weekend. We’ll see everyone back at school Tuesday, September 2.

Please contact me with any needs or concerns about your student. I know this is going to be a great year.
