Badger Bucks!

Grayson S., a 5th grade student, won the 1st 9 weeks' Badger Bucks Drawing! His prize was a laptop donated to the school by Patterson Federal Credit Union.

Badger Bucks are given out by teachers, and they are awarded for good behavior, being on task, or other positive things that they see students doing.

Students can spend their Badger Bucks on small prizes, and then all used Badger Bucks go into a drawing for the "Big Prize", drawn once every 9 weeks. In the remaining three quarters, students may also be eligible to win: a TV, a bicycle, and a telescope.

Counselor's Corner

Thursday, Nov. 13 is World Kindness Day. One part of being a school counselor is encouraging students to be kind to others. The theme for World Kindness Day 2025 is Kindness Moves! with an emphasis on the idea that "every act of kindness, no matter how small, has the power to make a big difference."

The planners behind World Kindess Day feel that kindness can inspire and create positive change by moving hearts and minds to bring about a kinder and more compassionate world. Attached is a form from Character Strong that has suggestions for 31 ways to show kindness. It would be great to encourage your child to take a look at the list and see if there are any acts of kindness they would be able to perform for a friend, grandparent, or a random stranger, maybe something you can do together such as make cards, pictures, drawings or write poems and deliver to a nursing home. Talk to an older relative and ask them to tell you about a special memory they have from growing up, or paint Kindness Rocks and place them around your neighborhood.

Of course with Thanksgiving quickly approaching, one idea is to have your children make a list of things they are thankful for. With so much uncertainty in the world today, it is healthy to take a break from the chaos and just focus on doing something kind and finding something to be grateful for. .

High Impact Tutoring for Math

Goza’s performance on the 2025 ATLAS Summative Assessment for Mathematics was 31%. Goza has qualified to provide High Impact Tutoring for 88 students (22 per grade level). The goal is to increase the number of students who are proficient in math. Goza stands to gain points that will improve its school performance score, now that the state acknowledges growth in student scores.

Edmentum will provide online tutoring. Students will engage with certified educators online. We are in the final stages of planning and are excited about this opportunity to provide our students the help they need to succeed.

Khan Academy offers the entire math curriculum online, allowing students to complete Illustrative Mathematics tutorials. Prodigy is an educational game like Tetris, where students compete in ELA and Math by answering questions. The Wonder of Science and PhET are excellent tools for enhancing science learning through online simulations and phenomena that affect our daily lives.
