Goza FBLA

Goza FBLA Students Attend District IV Fall Conference at HSU.

Goza Middle School FBLA members attended the District IV Middle School FBLA Fall Conference at Henderson State University on October 21, 2025. Students had the opportunity to network with other chapters and learn valuable professional skills.

The guest speaker, Mary Smith, Etiquette Consultant and Founder of Simple Etiquette, delivered an engaging presentation titled “Career Code: The Do’s and Don’ts.” Her session focused on professional behavior, first impressions, and workplace etiquette - key skills for future business leaders.

It was an inspiring day of learning and leadership for our Goza FBLA students!

High Impact Tutoring for Math

Goza’s performance on the 2025 ATLAS Summative Assessment for Mathematics was 31%. Goza has qualified to provide High Impact Tutoring for 88 students (22 per grade level). The goal is to increase the number of students who are proficient in math. Goza stands to gain points that will improve its school performance score, now that the state acknowledges growth in student scores.

Edmentum will provide online tutoring. Students will engage with certified educators online. We are in the final stages of planning and are excited about this opportunity to provide our students the help they need to succeed.

Curriculum Resources for Parents

Parents, we have heard your requests. This table includes direct links to student resources, which are also accessible through Clever. It also contains links to ECHO pages for students and parents, as well as a sign-up link for parents without an account.

Lexia is our ELA intervention program where students do activities in Word Study, Grammar, and Comprehension. Khan Academy offers the entire math curriculum online, allowing students to complete Illustrative Mathematics tutorials. Prodigy is an educational game like Tetris, where students compete in ELA and Math by answering questions. The Wonder of Science and PhET are excellent tools for enhancing science learning through online simulations and phenomena that affect our daily lives. Twenty minutes a day in these applications goes a long way!

Counselor's Corner

Friday, Nov. 6 is the deadline to turn in applications to DHS for Kindness (Angel) Tree requests. If your family can use help, please fill out the application. If your family participates in the TEA, Food Stamps, or ARKids A program, you are encouraged to fill out the application. They are available in the Goza front office or contact me at cheryl.hilser@arkadelphiaschools.org with the name of your middle school student and I will send home an application with him/her in a sealed envelope so your student won't know what is contained in the envelope. If you would like an electronic copy, click HERE.

In other counseling news, we have had Madison Morris, Health Program Specialist from the Arkansas Dept. of Health, on campus to present important information to our students about the health risks associated with vaping and tobacco. She has met with our seventh and eighth graders, and has visits scheduled with our younger students this month. Parents, please take time to talk to your students about this important subject. Vaping has become prevalent among students across America, including Goza. I've had students as young as fifth grade tell me they have tried vaping. Here is a video about vaping and the effects of vaping.
