Junior Auxiliary Kindness Tree

The Junior Auxiliary of Arkadelphia delivered Kindness Tree Program 2025 (formerly Angel Tree) applications to Goza this afternoon. If your family participates in TEA, Food Stamps, or the ARKids A progam, email me that you need an application: cheryl.hilser@arkadelphiaschools.org. I will put it in a plain white envelope and ask your student to come by my office to pick the envelope to take home to you. I hope that will keep it confidential from your students since they won't know what kind of paper they are delivering to you. It is suggested to get your completed applications in as soon as possible. Absolute deadline to turn in packets is Friday, Nov. 7. There is a possibility not all applications will be fulfilled according to the Junior Auxiiary of Arkadelphia form. If selected for the program, you will recieve a postcard notifying you to pick up packages at the First Presbyterian Church on Caddo Street. It is extremely important to list your current address and that it is clearly written so you can be contacted if accepted for the program. You only need one application for the household so if you have students on other Arkadelphia Public School District campuses who reside with you, you can include those students on the Goza student application. Incomplete applications will not be accepted. DO NOT RETURN APPLICATION PACKETS TO GOZA. Packets must be turned in to Clark County DHS Office, 602 S. 10th St., Arkadelphia. If you have questions, please reach out to the Junior Auxiliary Kindness Tree program: arkadelphiaja@gmail.com

October is National Bullying Prevention Month. Do you talk to your students about bullying? Recent research showed that 16% of Arkansas students report being bullied on school campuses and more than 75% reported being a victim of cyberbullying at some point with 34% of those children saying they had experienced cyberbullying within the last 30 days!

Let your children know you care and the staff at Goza cares. We want them to feel safe and have the confidence to report bullies. We encourage students to be upstanders - not bystanders when it comes to bullying. Check their internet activity, and report inappropriate contact with your children. Keep records (screenshots, descriptions, dates) to present to the school if needed so we can have the information to keep your child feeling safe and excited about coming to school.

As part of our Capturing Kids Hearts program, Goza promotes kindness, empathy, and respect through school-wide campaigns. A great resource for families in the area is the Percy and Donna Malone Child Safety Center. They are having a community-wide event November 9. The Child Safety Center provides resources daily to our students including dealing with the trauma from being bullied. We hope your family can come out to support this important cause.
