Arkadelphia graduate Madison Morris is making health presentation in our 7th and 8th grade Health & PE classes as well as our 5th and 6th grade Science classes. The two older grades are hearing about the dangers of vaping, tobacco and putting chemical substances into their bodies.
Some of the students believed vaping could not be harmful because they thought the evaporation was pure water, which of course is not true. Water Vapor Cigarettes can include all of the following:
E-liquid: A mixture of propylene glycol, vegetable glycerin, flavorings, and nicotine (optional).
Nicotine: An addictive substance derived from tobacco, available in various concentrations.
Flavorings: Food-grade additives that provide different tastes, ranging from fruits to desserts.
Propylene Glycol (PG): A colorless liquid used to create vapor and enhance flavor delivery.
Vegetable Glycerin (VG): A thicker liquid that produces larger vapor clouds and adds sweetness.
Additives: Additional substances that may enhance flavor or throat hit, but vary by brand.
Ms. Morris, Health Program Specialist, DLPH/Southwest Region/Clark County with the Arkansas Department of Health, explained how most users do not think of vaping as a drug along the lines of something like Meth, but the truth is users experience a “high” and then withdrawals when their bodies do not get a “hit.” Many of the eighth graders were surprised at the damage vaping and tobacco can do.
Thank you Ms. Morris for helping to educate our students about how to stay healthy!
