What's Happening at Goza

Taking a Closer Look

What differentiates living things from nonliving things? Mrs. Smith's 6th grade science classes explored microscopic images of salt, cheek skin, onion, and pond water to determine if structure can be used to differentiate living and nonliving substances.

Seeing Double

Counselor's Corner

I’ve had such a great time getting to know some of our Goza students this past week during WIN time. We have some really kind and thoughtful students here, even if a couple prefer to bend the rules when we played our You Know game!

On a more serious note, September is Mental Health Awareness Month. Did you know that suicide is the second leading cause of death among children ages 10-14 years in the United States? Key risk factors include depression, anxiety, and behavioral disorders.

There is so much information to help families facing a mental health crisis. Please check out the link below for information. We have on-campus mental health therapists available throughout the District. I can send you a link for more information about the program if you want it. Don’t be afraid to reach out.

Make it a point to talk to your children about their feelings and emotions. Middle school is full of changes in so many ways - responsibilities as well as physical changes. Check in with your children to make sure they are handling all of these changes in a healthy way.

This link below will allow you to access information about mental health in English or Spanish. It’s full of useful information to help keep children safe.
