Intro to Agriculture

The agriculture education program continues to evolve; this year 8th grade students have been enrolled in the Intro to Agriculture class. This is the level 1 class also taught at the high school for 1st year members. These 8th grade students will be earning a high school credit by completing this course. This also opens up the availability for 8th graders to participate in Leadership Development Events this winter and Career Development Events this spring.

Counselor's Corner

ms hilser smiling

Welcome to Goza. We are so excited to have your students this year. I am the school counselor, Cheryl Hilser. This is my second year at Goza and my third year in Arkadelphia schools. Some of the fifth grade parents may remember me because I was at Peake when your student was a third grader.

We do have a few changes in the counselor’s office this year as we try to ensure students get as much instructional time as possible. One of the most noticeable changes is doing away with the Clothes Closet. Please make sure your students come dressed appropriately. If they tend to get cold in classrooms, they need to have a jacket or sweatshirt with them to put on. There are very few clothes or jackets in my office this year, and with a super small array of sizes.

The extra shoes that were in the office are also gone. If your student has PE, it is important you send a pair of athletic shoes with them to wear. No slides or Crocs are allowed in PE because it is too dangerous.

I will be continuing my Lunch Bunch meetings with students where we can meet in a small group. They can eat their lunch in my office, and we will work on different topics such as getting organized, being respectful, making new friends, and dealing with loss. If you feel your student could benefit from a small group setting at lunchtime, please let me know.

Please contact me with any needs or concerns about your student. I know this is going to be a great year.
