Goza boasts first chair regional choir student

All-Region is a regional choir competition where choral students from southern Arkansas come together to compete for spots in an honor choir. Goza’s own David Garrett exceeded the odds and came home from the competition securing first chair. David, and eighth grader, was first among close to 100 other students competing in the same voice part. He successfully got chair 1 as a bass, which is the lowest voice part a guy can sing in choir. First chair represents number 1 in the competition. Let's congratulate David on this incredible achievement!

8th graders take metaphorical field trip

After spending the week learning about the Salem Witch Trials, Mr. Michael Ankton's class took a metaphorical field trip to Salem, Massachusetts, 1692. Students used the history they learned to play the parts of notable figures during the Witchcraft Fiasco in the late 1600s in Colonial America.

The Court had a judge, lawyers, "afflicted" accusers, and innocent students accused of witchcraft.

The students had a blast and were able to reaffirm what they learned that week!

Spooky artwook adorns Goza's hallways

I always feel like somebody's watching meeeee!

Students in Mrs. Regan Morehead's art classes are having a great time dressing up her room and the hallway with spooky artwork. All grade levels had fun drawing very detailed eyeballs which grace the art room door, making us look like we're being watched! We always look forward to these scary displays.

The 6th-8th grade students have completed their drawing units. All were focused on creating a wide range of value with drawing pencils or white colored pencils. Sixth grade created landscapes that contain origami animals. The 7th grade created ice cream cones, and 8th graders created skeleton still lifes.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

This year, the Arkadelphia School District did something different this year with Parent-Teacher Conferences by having them on two different nights. Conferences took place on Tuesday, October 18, and Thursday, October 20. This provided the opportunity for parents to choose which evening was more convenient for the. School was still in session those days, with the conferences running from 4-6:30.
