Goza hosts Month of the Military Child breakfast

Ms. Della Miller, Goza’s Instructional Facilitator, hosted a celebratory breakfast for April's Month of the Military Child. Each April, the country honors students from military families. Goza students shared the history of this observance and its symbol - the dandelion. Several guests, including our district superintendent, Nikki Thomas, and school board members, attended this event. Jeremy Bell stepped in for Col. Kaminar, who could not attend, and ended the event by discussing the state's role in supporting military families.

We thank Joshua and Shelley Hughes of JavaPrimo Coffee House, Cafe & More - Arkadelphia for the breakfast, which included cinnamon rolls, fresh fruit, coffee, juice, and water. #ADE #MonthoftheMilitaryChild #PurpleStarSchool

Goza's 6th-grade campus beautification project

Goza Middle School's campus has been beautifully enhanced thanks to the efforts of Mrs. Anita Malcom and her sixth-grade students. In April, they dedicated a day to planting a variety of flowers and plants around the school grounds. The newly added marigolds, vinca, and rosemoss bring vibrant colors to the landscape. Additionally, a red maple tree and several perennial seeds of native Arkansas wildflowers, known for their self-pollinating properties, were planted. The plants and seeds were generously provided at cost by Love Creek Nursery in Okolona, supporting the school's beautification project.

These selections of plants not only enhance the school's aesthetic appeal, but also promote sustainable gardening practices.

This initiative not only beautifies the school environment but also serves as an educational experience for the students, teaching them about horticulture and the importance of native plants in local ecosystems.
