This week in 3rd-4th grade Library, they read Creepy Carrots by Aaron Reynolds, and then used materials to "corral those carrots." In Mrs. Resnick's class, there were so many great ideas. What will the rest of the classes come up with?
Dyslexia Awareness Month is celebrated in October every year. The month was established by the International Dyslexia Association (IDA) to raise awareness and educate the public about dyslexia.
Dyslexia is a specific learning disability that affects reading and language processing. It's not a sign of low intelligence.
During Dyslexia Awareness Month, people focus on:
Promoting a more inclusive and accessible world for people with dyslexia and low literacy
Celebrating dyslexic excellence
Spreading knowledge and understanding of dyslexia
These are some links to some helpful resources and information.

With the construction around Peake, there may be times that we lose internet. While Dash Pass relies on a steady connection, we have internet-free procedures for times when they are needed. In this case, there is no need to check your child out early. We will make sure your student is in your car in a timely manner!
While we are working on getting our water fountains back in tip top shape, please make sure to send your student with a full clear water bottle!
2 options to buy:
1. A paper order form came home. Fill it out, send it back with Cash or Check.
2. Order your yearbook online at Jostens.com. Select yearbook, buy yearbook, Peake Elementary School. If you purchase online you will be charged tax.
Ms. Hurst and Mrs. Newman would like to remind everyone that students must wear PE appropriate shoes on their PE day.
Appropriate shoes are: shoes with laces, Velcro, or elastic straps.
Boots, slip on shoes, Hey, Dudes, Jelly sandals/shoes, slides, sandals, crocs, dress shoes, shoes with a heel, and flip flops are not appropriate footwear on PE days.
To ensure the safety of all of our students, those without appropriate footwear will not be able to participate in that day's PE activity.
Please call if you have any questions. (870) 246-2260

As we welcome the month of October, we are excited to introduce our Word of the Month: Self-Direct. This concept is all about encouraging our students to take initiative in their learning and personal growth. Self-direct means being responsible for one's actions, setting goals, and working independently towards achieving them.
Throughout October, we will focus on helping students understand the importance of self-direction. We will incorporate activities and discussions that promote setting personal goals, making thoughtful decisions, and taking ownership of their education. By fostering these skills, we aim to empower our students to become confident and proactive learners.
We encourage parents and guardians to reinforce these ideas at home by discussing the importance of self-direction with your children. Ask them about their goals and how they plan to achieve them. Celebrate their efforts and progress, no matter how small.
Warm regards,
De'Shae Craig
