Dyslexia Awareness Month is celebrated in October every year. The month was established by the International Dyslexia Association (IDA) to raise awareness and educate the public about dyslexia.
Dyslexia is a specific learning disability that affects reading and language processing. It's not a sign of low intelligence.
During Dyslexia Awareness Month, people focus on:
Promoting a more inclusive and accessible world for people with dyslexia and low literacy
Celebrating dyslexic excellence
Spreading knowledge and understanding of dyslexia

The Third Grade will present "All American Me and You" on Thursday, October 17th at 1:30 and 6 PM. All third graders will be performing. They will wear nice blue jeans and solid-colored shirts according to their homeroom classes: Mrs. Wyatt and Ms. Cole’s classes should wear WHITE shirts. Mrs. Resnick and Mrs. Hesse’s classes should wear RED shirts. Ms. MaGee’s class should wear BLUE shirts. You may add patriotic extras as long as they do not distract or block students (tall hats, anything that makes noise, etc..). Students should bring their clothes to school in a bag marked with their name for the afternoon performance. They should wear them to school for the evening performance and arrive in the gym by 5:45 PM. We have been working hard on the songs during MUSIC class.
If your 3rd grade student is related to a military member, and you would like for us to include you in our slideshow, please send the note in your communication folders back to Mrs. Pritchard with any names you'd like included.

Ms. Hurst and Mrs. Newman would like to remind everyone that students must wear PE appropriate shoes on their PE day.
Appropriate shoes are: shoes with laces, Velcro, or elastic straps.
Boots, slip on shoes, Hey, Dudes, Jelly sandals/shoes, slides, sandals, crocs, dress shoes, shoes with a heel, and flip flops are not appropriate footwear on PE days.
To ensure the safety of all of our students, those without appropriate footwear will not be able to participate in that day's PE activity.
Please call if you have any questions. (870) 246-2260

As we welcome the month of October, we are excited to introduce our Word of the Month: Self-Direct. This concept is all about encouraging our students to take initiative in their learning and personal growth. Self-direct means being responsible for one's actions, setting goals, and working independently towards achieving them.
Throughout October, we will focus on helping students understand the importance of self-direction. We will incorporate activities and discussions that promote setting personal goals, making thoughtful decisions, and taking ownership of their education. By fostering these skills, we aim to empower our students to become confident and proactive learners.
We encourage parents and guardians to reinforce these ideas at home by discussing the importance of self-direction with your children. Ask them about their goals and how they plan to achieve them. Celebrate their efforts and progress, no matter how small.
Warm regards,
De'Shae Craig
