Field Day is coming and we need your help! On May 8th, Peake will have our annual Jay Davis Field Day. There are three sections of time, and we need parent volunteers to make this event a success for our students. There is a form coming home today, but you can also sign up for a time using this QR Code or THIS LINK.

Testing Tips!
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we approach the end of the school year, we want to emphasize how important it is for students to be present and on time each day—especially during end-of-year testing. These assessments provide valuable insight into your child's growth and help guide instruction for the upcoming school year.
To help your child do their best, please ensure they get a good night's sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and arrive at school on time. We also kindly ask that you avoid scheduling appointments during testing days. While make-up testing is available, students rarely perform as well outside their regular classroom environment and away from their familiar teacher.
Thank you for your continued support in helping your child succeed!
Field Day T-Shirt Order Forms
Field Day is coming May 8th. Each class will have a specific color, so if you have students in multiple grades/classes, fill out a separate form for each student! If you need, the order form is linked HERE. Orders must be turned in by April 24th.

Chess Tournament- May 2nd
We will be having the end of semester Chess Tournament for 3rd - 5th graders at Peake Elementary School on Friday, May 2nd at 6:00 P.M. in the Peake cafeteria.
All 3rd - 5th grade chess players are welcomed. Tournament play starts at 6:00, so please arrive by 5:45.
Please enter through the side door of the cafeteria.

Word of the Month: Perseverance
Dear Parents and Students,
This month, we focus on the word "perseverance." Perseverance is the steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success. It is an essential quality that helps individuals overcome challenges and reach their goals.
For students, embracing perseverance means understanding that setbacks are a natural part of learning. It encourages them to keep trying, even when things get tough. As parents, you can support this by celebrating efforts rather than just outcomes, reinforcing the idea that persistence leads to growth and success.
Let’s work together to foster a culture of perseverance in our school community. Encourage your children to set goals, face challenges head-on, and remember that every step forward, no matter how small, is a step towards success.

Dyslexia Resources
Dyslexia is a specific learning disability that is neurobiological in origin. It is characterized by difficulties with accurate and/or fluent word recognition and by poor spelling and decoding abilities. These difficulties typically result from a deficit in the phonological component of language that is often unexpected in relation to other cognitive abilities and the provision of effective classroom instruction. Secondary consequences may include problems in reading experience that can impede growth of vocabulary and background knowledge.
Arkadelphia School District utilizes the Barton Reading and Spelling Program and Take Flight: A Comprehensive Intervention for Students with Dyslexia by Scottish Rite for Children to provide intervention for students exhibiting the characteristics of Dyslexia.

Physical Education
Ms. Hurst and Mrs. Newman would like to remind everyone that students must wear PE appropriate shoes on their PE day.
Appropriate shoes are: shoes with laces, Velcro, or elastic straps.
Boots, slip on shoes, Hey, Dudes, Jelly sandals/shoes, slides, sandals, crocs, dress shoes, shoes with a heel, and flip flops are not appropriate footwear on PE days.
To ensure the safety of all of our students, those without appropriate footwear will not be able to participate in that day's PE activity.
