GREAT Things Are Happening at Peake!

Badgers on the Run

Our students in grades K-4 participated in the The Little Rockers Kids Marathon on March 1st. This event is a non-competitive program that offers children the opportunity to enhance their physical activity (by following a fun, simple running and/or walking program) while focusing on reaching a goal. Participants run or walk at least 25.2 miles in the weeks leading up to race weekend. On race day, they complete their marathon on the official Little Rock Marathon course. This year, we had almost 70 students participate!

Kindergarten Musical

Our kinders presented the musical performance, E-I-E-I Oops!, a delightful barnyard adventure full of music, laughter, and fun! Our young performers sang, danced, and told the hilarious story of what happens when things go a little moo-sical on the farm! It was a show filled with catchy tunes, adorable animals, and unforgettable moments.

Magic Was in the Air at Peake

Sponsored by our school counselors, "Making Accidents Disappear" is an educational and entertaining program that teaches children across Arkansas the importance of electrical safety. The 40-minute school assembly program, sponsored by the Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas, uses audience participation, comedy, stories, and magic to communicate the importance of behaving safely around electricity.

Because accidents, not diseases, are the number one killer of children in America, "Making Accidents Disappear" is a powerful tool that helps parents, teachers, and industry combat these otherwise needless tragedies. Unlike so many other causes of childhood death, accident related death is the one that is most preventable with proper education. And, using fun magic tricks and illusions to seize the children’s attention proves the most effective method for insuring that this important message sinks in.

Kiwanis of Clark County

The Kiwanis of Clark County helped us celebrate Read Across America Week by dropping off books the organization donated to teachers. We enjoyed members going to classrooms, handing out the books, and talking with teachers and students about reading!

Nickelodeon Choir Takes on Little Rock!

The Peake Elementary Nickelodeon Choir had an unforgettable day at the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts! They enjoyed a fantastic performance of Dr. Seuss on Stage and had the special opportunity to perform in the lecture hall for their parents. As a preview of their upcoming spring concert, which will feature songs from beloved musicals, they sang The Lion Sleeps Tonight, Out My Window, and Seize the Day. What a wonderful experience for these young performers!

Peake Students Walk in GLI's Disability Awareness Parade

Peake students and staff enjoyed participating in Group Living, Inc.'s Annual Developmental Disabilities Parade. This year’s theme—“We All Walk to a Different Beat” —was all about embracing individuality and celebrating the strengths that make each of us unique. We'd like to extend a HUGE thank you to Nicole McGough and Patterson's Federal Credit Union for sponsoring our shirts!
