GREAT Things Are Happening at Peake!

Second Grade Science News

In the second grade study of animals and their habitats, students explored various ecosystems, including forests, deserts, oceans, and wetlands. They researched different animals, learning about their physical characteristics, behaviors, and the specific environments they inhabit. To enhance their understanding, each student created a project that showcased their findings, which included dioramas, posters, and oral presentations.

Cultural Show and Tell

Students in Mrs. Crow's ELD Classes had an opportunity to practice their oral communication skills and share special things from one another's native country with a Cultural Show and Tell Day.  Each student shared something that represented his/her Native country.  This was such a fun and friendly way for students to learn to speak in front of one another with more ease. This activity also left everyone more knowledgeable and more appreciative of one another and where they came from. We even learned how to speak some Papiamento from our student from Aruba.  Countries represented were Bulgaria, China, Aruba, Mexico, Cameroon, and Honduras.  Peake Elementary is very fortunate to have these students here with us.

Early Act Student Council Food Drive

Our Early Act Student Council collected canned goods and nonperishable food items to help needy families who may have needed assistance with food during the holidays.  All items were available to families in the community. It was a good way for our students to display their motto, "Service Above Self".

4th Grade Winter Musical

We had a wonderful treat in the form of our winter musical presented by our 4th grade classrooms. This production, written and led by music specialist Mrs. Laura Cornelius, was titled "How to Train Your Reindeer (To Fly). There were two performances so that all classes could participate. Students and parents both enjoyed this comical, yet meaningful, production.
