Celebrating Dot Day

The story of Dot Day begins with a children's storybook called The Dot. It was written and illustrated by American author Peter H. Reynolds and released on 15 September 2003.The book tells the story of Vashti, a little girl who is struggling with her art. Vashti's art teacher comes to the rescue, and the little girl in the picture book learns to believe in herself and her abilities and discovers that even a simple dot can be a work of art. The now world-famous book encourages kids to embrace their creativity and to never give up on their dreams. It literally encourages kids to 'make their mark' on the world!

See You At The Pole

Peake students, staff and several community members participated in See You at The Pole. See You at the Pole (SYATP) is an annual event in which Christian students gather for prayer at their school’s flagpole to pray for their families, friends, churches, and communities. Participants prayed over our school, its safety, and for our students and staff. Included in this event was also prayer for our community, nation, and our world.

PAWS represents the behaviors we want all our students to achieve at Peake. Ms. Snowden had the honor of recognizing Ms. Sophia M. for receiving the very first Principal’s PAWS certificate! Sophia was nominated by school counselor, Ms. Craig, for being a leader, working hard, and showing respect. Way to go, Sophia!

Congratulations to Ja’Marious Hadley for displaying EMPATHY, our CKH Word of the Month for September. Ja’Marious was recognized by his teacher, Mrs. Forthman. She said, “Ja’Marious showed empathy when he saw a classmate having a hard time getting a notebook put away. He stepped right in and showed his classmate a way to make it easier.” Thank you, Ja’Marious, for being a CKH classmate!

PLC Collective Commitments

Collective commitments are a set of values and beliefs that define how a group of people will work together to achieve a desired outcome. In a Professional Learning Community (PLC), collective commitments are a key part of the foundation. They help to create a supportive environment where people feel comfortable sharing their ideas and concerns. Peake faculty met after school to establish these commitments, rounding out the 4 Pillars of a PLC.

  • We will lead with positivity, valuing and empowering staff and students.

  • We will collaborate effectively within our teams to effectively meet the needs of ALL our students.

  • We will frequently assess students and use that data to drive our instruction and interventions.

  • We will create a culture that fosters a safe learning environment.

  • We will use our HQIM to deliver high quality, grade-level content to ALL students.

Capturing Kids' Hearts

This month, we are focusing on the Word of the Month, Self-Direct. Self-direction is when a person chooses to do things but also considers the consequences and context of his/her actions. In the teaching of this word through Leadworthy lessons, teachers are reporting that students are better managing their behavior.
