Perritt Specialists teamed up to help students celebrate "International Dot Day" on Sept. 15th, along with more than 19 million people in a whopping 192 countries around the world! In the library, Mrs. Murphy introduced Peter H. Reynolds' book "The Dot", in which the main character learns that once she makes a mark, she has unending possibilities! She creates so many pieces of Dot Art, that she is able to have an art show, which then in turn inspires others! In the Perritt Art Studio, Mrs. Taylor's most amazing artists prepared dot artwork inspired by Wassily Kandinsky's Concentric Circles painting to create a couple of large collaborative murals throughout the school. Mrs. Webb taught the students "The Dot Song" by Emily Arrow to round out the fine arts experience. Many of the classroom teachers creatively connected their student learning goals to the dot theme as well. We all enjoyed a day to dress our "dottiest" and celebrate our ability to do hard things, and to find creativity within ourselves!
